Daimio takes Hellboy and Alice Monaghan to M11 headquarters before secretly acquiring a special bullet to kill Hellboy. During the journey to Nimue's location at Pendleton, Daimio reveals to Alice that he was the sole survivor of a demonic jaguar attack. Later, at St Paul's Cathedral, Daimio aids Hellboy by fighting in his jaguar form against an empowered Gruagach. After Hellboy decapitates Nimue and tosses her head into Hell, Daimio discards the special bullet. Six months later, Daimio, Hellboy, and Alice raid the Oannes Society where they find the water tank of Abe Sapien.

The rain slicked the cobblestones of the abandoned subway station, reflecting the flickering emergency lights above. Ben Daimio moved silently through the shadows, his breath steady despite the unnatural chill that seemed to emanate from the walls. He wasn't alone; Hellboy was a few paces ahead, hand resting on the grip of his revolver. A low growl echoed from the darkness, followed by the skittering of claws on stone. Daimio didn't flinch. He shifted his stance, muscles coiled like springs, ready to strike before the creature could even reveal its form. 'Stay sharp,' he whispered into the gloom, a silent promise that no matter what nightmare emerged from the dark, they would face it together.
